VALORANT – Riot is working on changes to the Top Rank Radiant

Patch 1.02 has been active in VALORANT for a month now and numerous players are competing in the new Ranked Matchmaking. There are already some radiant players out there. But there is also some criticism about the radiant rank and the ranked mode in general.

Although the update has met many fan requests, prominent professionals like G2s
Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas Colocho still has some shortcomings:

His wishes include not only buff requests for Viper, which is generally considered too weak by many but also demands from players and professionals. Mixwell hopes for the possibility to warm up in the shooting range while waiting for a game or dedicated places for coaches in private game lobbies.

His second demand is particularly interesting for the ranked mode: he hopes for an ELO system like in League of Legends for the players with the rank radiant. This serves above all to differentiate between the players at the highest level since the differences between “low radiant” and the top are significant. There could be some pretty good but only free-time-players in there playing against completely pro teams. Or there could be some players who used Valorant rank boosting services but aren’t that good. This update would simply make the best stand out from the best.

Riot is working on a solution

There was even prominent feedback from the developers on the professional player’s tweet. Game Director Joe Ziegler spoke personally and said that Riot was already working on a variant for it.

So will there soon be leaderboards in Valorant? They already exist in League of Legends and offer the best players in their respective regions the chance to fight for first place on the ranking.
