Browser games increasingly popular

Playing on the Internet is becoming increasingly popular. It is not only online games that are bought on DVD or as downloads that have a large following. The browser games have also come out of their shadow in the light of the gaming community. Some of them have just as much hype as games like Among us, Fall guys or Phasmophobia.

Browser games are simply knitted games on the Internet, a good alternative for in between. Installations are not necessary. It can only be accessed via the Internet – regardless of which computer. In addition, the games are not so time-consuming and therefore a “small snack” in between for busy people.

A representative survey of 25,000 Germans aged ten years and older in February this year shows that 12.4 million play online. Almost ten million players are registered in at least one browser game, as the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) announced. While the number of online game users fell by almost 200,000 compared to the previous year, the number of browser gamers rose by 700,000.

Overall, the Internet gaming industry made around 204 million euros in sales in Germany last year. Around half of this (104.5 million) was used for online game fees. Another 46.4 million euros were spent on fees for browser games. These are usually costs for a premium account, which brings the player a few advantages over the “normal” variant. In 2009, around 1.1 million online players spent a total of 52.6 million on additional content, certain skills or items, for example.

There are dozens of browser games on the global data network. Counting them seems impossible because they sprout like mushrooms from the virtual ground. Gameforge has been around since the end of 2003. The Karlsruhe-based company offers 20 games in over 50 languages. More than 200 million players are registered worldwide. In 2009, Gameforge achieved a “significant three-digit million euro amount” in sales. With eight million players,  is “Metin 2” Europe’s largest multiplayer online game, followed by the “Ikariam” simulation. Gameforge claims to be the world’s largest independent provider of online games.

The future perspective of browser games looks very good. There are always new technical advances and new game trends that ensure the innovative development of the game industry. The more the browsers develop in terms of technology, design, and function, the more the game functions will expand. Browser games are simply fun and good mood and are child’s play to use. In addition, the selection of the different categories is huge and you can be calm about what the browser game developers will come up with for the players in the future. The number of exciting titles is already very impressive. You can already play match 3 games, bubble shooter, sports games, action games, construction games, PvP games, card games, and many more. Maybe in the future, there will be big great games that are like online games today.
